This year, for the first time, a special pilgrimage to Knock in honour of Fr Willie Doyle will take place on Sunday 11th August, presided over by Bishop Tom Deenihan, Bishop of Meath. This coincides with the Meath Diocesan Pilgrimage.
Fr Willie Doyle was a famous WWI military chaplain who was killed saving wounded soldiers in 1917. Fr Doyle entered the Jesuit novitiate in the Diocese of Meath at the age of 18 in 1891.
The Diocese of Meath includes the greater part of counties Meath, Westmeath and Offaly, and a portion of counties Longford, Louth, Dublin and Cavan.
Anointing of the Sick at 2.30pm.
Concelebrated Mass takes place at 3pm.
Mass will be followed outdoor Rosary Procession (weather permitting)
