This beautiful Brigid’s cross called ‘basket’ was very popular amongst fishing communities.
It’s plaiting represents a weaving of the basket where fish and other seafood were stored. The cross formed as a cradle, with similar technique to that of weaving baskets, was made by women to reflect the community where it originated.
