Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (Candlemas)

The feast of the presentation of the Lord takes place on Sunday, February 2nd 2025. Also known as Candlemas Day, candles will be blessed at each of our Masses on the day.

Traditionally Candlemas is a day for devotion and prayer. On this day people bring candles to their local church. Candles were traditionally bequeathed to the church and a blessed candle would be handed back to each member of the congregation. These candles are during sacraments that occurred in family homes. Visits to graveyards are also popular on this day, with families and friends attending to the graves of their departed loved ones.
