(Please not, this weekly meeting is breaking for Christmas and will return on Friday, January 8th, 2016).
A new weekly hour of reading, reflection, sharing and prayer, with the Gospel of St John, has started each Friday morning at Knock Shrine.
The group meet at 11am in Room 1 at St John’s Rest and Care Centre.
The group is organised by Sr Anastasia fmsl, in response to Pope Francis’ Year of Mercy, which began on December 8.
Pope Francis has invited people to have an experience of God in their lives during the Year of Mercy and Sr Anastasia is hoping the weekly meetings will help to foster a renewed discipleship during the Year of Mercy, and help the participants to be more confident in strengthening and sharing their faith.
St John the Evangelist, the author of St John’s Gospel, is one of the heavenly figures who appeared in the Apparition at Knock Shrine on August 21, 1879.
The Apparition witnesses said St John was holding a book and his arm was extended, as if he were preaching.
Sr Anastasia said she believes the Gospel of St John is particularly relevant to Knock for this reason.
