His entrance into our human family is seen to be by far the most significant happening of all time. St. John saw him simply as “The Light”. G.K. Chesterton wrote a famous book about him entitled “The Everlasting Man”. John Milton referred to him as “One greater man”, greater that is than all his human ancestors. In fact, before his birth, it was foretold that his task would be to set the human race on the right road after the tragic wrong turnings taken by those who had gone before. “He will give light to those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death and guide our feet in the way of peace.” His identity was certified by the Father speaking loudly and clearly from His eternal home, “This is my Beloved Son. Listen to him.” He himself said, “I have come that all may have life and have it to the full.”
The aim of this book is simply to introduce him to you. All it asks is that you accompany him as his first followers did, see for yourself what he is about and get to know him. Ages have passed by since he came to us, but never before has the need to know him been more important, never has his message been so relevant as it is to our generation.
The narrator of this story is one who stumbled on the scene of his birth and remained close to him ever after. It could have been you.
