Description
Following their popular and critically-acclaimed volume on the Gospel of Luke, the authors here navigate Matthew’s Gospel, and consider how this Gospel is relevant for a world and a Church today that are at a turning point.
The Gospel of Matthew is written to offer hope to a community at a turning point. In Jesus’ most famous sermon, delivered from the mountain top, we hear the challenge of The Beatitudes, the core teaching of Christianity today. They set out before us the challenge to live like Jesus and show us that God always sides with the poor, those who thirst for justice and peace, thos who are persecuted and those who mourn.
