Relics of Saint Teresa of Calcutta

The Relics of Saint Teresa of Calcutta will visit Knock Shrine on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July.  

The Knights of Columbanus received the relic from the Sisters of Charity and have arranged for it to tour Ireland to facilitate its veneration.

The Relics will be placed in Knock Parish Church from 10am-9pm on Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday.

The relic – a muslin cloth bearing the blood of St Teresa, encased in a cross – will first visit St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh, St Patrick and Colman’s Cathedral in Newry,  St Patricks Church, Belfast, Corpus Christ Church, west Belfast where St Teresa once worked in the community, alongside four other nuns from her Missionaries of Charity order.

After departing Knock Shrine, the Relic will be brought to the following locations: Loughrea, Ennis, Limerick, Killarney, Skibbereen, Cork, Cobh, Thurles, Kilkenny, Waterford, Enniscorthy, Carlow, Mullingar, Dublin, Longford, Cavan, Monaghan, Drogheda and Letterkenny.

On Friday August 11 the Relic will be brought to Newry Cathedral where it will take up permanent residence.
