Knock House Hotel at Knock Shrine, Co Mayo, is getting a major revamp this winter as management there have started an extensive refurbishment project on the hotel’s 68 bedrooms.
The architecturally-designed hotel, which first opened its doors in 1999, is an extremely popular spot with locals and visitors to the region alike.
It nestles in 100 acres of picturesque grounds, boasts a busy restaurant, and has gained a strong reputation for its friendly service, comfortable and stylish interior and tranquil setting.
The €350,000 refurbishment project over the winter months will be completed on a phased basis to avoid any inconvenience to guests, outlined manager Brian Crowley.
“Each room will receive a total make-over,” he explained. “This will include painting, new carpets, curtains, voiles, beds, duvets and throws, photographic prints of beautiful scenery, 32” wall-mounted plasma TVs with multi-channel TV and radio selection, and new tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryers.
“The corridors will be completely refreshed with new colours and beautiful new carpets also.
“Our Conference Centre and Cavanagh Room will also benefit from re-decoration during this time,” added Mr Crowley.
This latest project is set to add to the recent refurbishment work in the residents’ bar.
“Earlier this year our residents’ bar was re-modelled and we installed a beautiful oak bar counter which has opened up our comfortable lounge,” said Mr Crowley. “We also installed a 42″ flat-screen TV so the bar is ideal for those exciting sports matches, where you can soak up the atmosphere in comfortable surroundings.”
Knock House Hotel is open all year round.
Upcoming events this winter include a Christmas Concert with John Mc Nicholl on Friday, December 18, and a traditional Scottish Burns Supper on January 30.
