We look forward to welcoming the St Bernadette Relic Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine this September. This is the first visit of the relics of St Bernadette to Ireland. On September 3rd, a ceremony of sending took place at the Grotto in Lourdes, where the Sanctuary of Lourdes entrusted the relics of St Bernadette to the Diocese of Elphin. The relics travelled to Ireland and began their tour of Ireland on September 4th. The relics of St Bernadette will visit Knock Shrine on Sunday, September 29th.
The relics will arrive at Knock Basilica at 11.30am and will be present at both the 12 noon and 3pm Masses. Veneration will take place after the 12 noon Mass until 2pm. The afternoon pilgrimage schedule at Knock Shrine will then commence, with Anointing of the Sick at 2.30pm. Concelebrated Mass at 3pm will be followed by Eucharistic Blessing and outdoor Rosary procession. ( weather permitting). Veneration will resume after the Rosary procession and will continue until 6pm.
As large numbers are anticipated for this special occasion, please be prepared to queue and allow plenty of time for your visit. Please note that physical contact with the reliquary will not be permitted. Uniformed volunteers will be present to assist pilgrims throughout the day. Please adhere to their guidance at all times.
